How to calculate Zakat
Add up the current value of everything you own that qualifies (gold, silver, cash, savings, investments, business stock, and more), subtract debts due immediately, then compare the result to the Nisab. If your net wealth is at or above the Nisab and has been held for one lunar year, Zakat is due at 2.5%.
Eligible (zakatable) assets
Gold, silver, cash on hand and in the bank, savings, business inventory and receivables, shares and investment funds, and cryptocurrency held for investment all count toward your zakatable wealth.
Exempt assets
Your primary residence, personal vehicle, household furniture, clothing, and other items used for personal need — not held for trade or investment — are not zakatable.
Common mistakes
Forgetting money owed to you (receivables), not deducting only debts due immediately (long-term future instalments generally aren't deducted), and using the wrong Nisab standard for your situation are the most frequent errors.
Islamic guidance
Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. This calculator is a guide to help you estimate your obligation — for complex situations (business partnerships, mixed-use assets, disputed debts) we always recommend confirming with a qualified scholar.
